Women’s Snowboard Big Air Final

Women’s Snowboard Big Air Replay

8 of the gnarliest women snowboard athletes SEND IT over the massive big air jump over a 23 minute jam-style session. Event favorite, Anna Gasser was plagued with an ankle injury just weeks before the competition, which really opens up the final wide. The story was all about Jamie Anderson and Laurie Blouin battle back and forth for most of the session. Jamie goes down hard with a FS 1080 on her final run and looked like the rookie Laurie Blouin would wrap it up after a FS 900. Then Zoi Sadowski-Synnott, who was sitting with a big gap to third place, threw down a massive switch BS 900 to tie Blouin for first with a 77.00. Tie went to the higher single score, which went to the rookie, Laurie. Zoi and Jamie finish out the rest of the podium.

Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle Elimination

16 men battle it out on the slopestyle course to be in the top 7 to advance on to the finals. With big names like, Chris Corning, Sven Thorgren & Stale Sandbech, you knew there would be a lot of drama. With only 2 runs, there is little room for any mistakes. Sebastien Toutlant, Sven Thorgren and Chris Corning are the first of seven to make it to the finals. Judd Hankes, the youngest X games competitor, makes it through as well. Stale Sandbech was not able to put a solid run together to advance. Stay tuned for the finals Saturday afternoon.

Men’s Snowboard Big Air Final

Men’s Snowboard Big Air Final Replay

25 minute jam style session. Scored for a left rotation and a right rotation separated. Scores are out of 50 each for a max total of a 100. The Big air jump set under lights in Aspen is breath-taking. The Belgian, Sebbe De Buck, decided to woo the crown instead of going for the podium, with a double backflip, super slow front flip, double front flip, and an amazing triple front flip attempt (who does that!?). Chris Corning almost landed a quad cork 1620, which would’ve landed him on the podium most likely. Sven Thorgren gave a triple backside rodeo with some STEEZY style for a Bronze medal. Coming from surgery 7 weeks ago, Mark McMorris did a technical triple cork 1440, multi grab for a Silver Medal. 17 year old, defending big air Norway 2018 gold medalist, Takeru Otsuka took the event with authority with a cab trip cork 1620 for Gold. He almost landed a quad cork 1800, which has never been landed in competition before. Could you imagine!? We now know where the future of Snowboard Big Air is going. Quad cork 1800? Seriously!? The sky is no longer the limit. These guys are going straight up into orbit.

Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle Final

Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle Finals Replay

8 of the best women snowboarders attack this year’s slopestyle course in Aspen. They have 3 runs each for a maximum score of 100. The legendary, Jamie Anderson, dropped out due to a gnarly crash in Big Air finals Wednesday night. All the women laid it all out there. Enni Rukajarvi brings home Bronze with a 84.66. Hailey Langland takes Silver with a 90.66. But the show was all about Zoi Sadowski-Synnott, who whipped out a solid top rail section and back to back 900’s into a double back flip on the jump section on her first run for a 90.00. On her third run, she cleaned it up even more for a 91.00 to earn her first Gold medal.

10 Men came out to play on the slopestyle course today. A maximum of 100 score on the best out of 3 runs make the athletes really send it. The event started off with Mon Roisland, an alternate who filled in for injured Chris Corning, busting out a sick run of a 91.33. It looked like that score was going to hold out until the end when other athletes struggled a bit. Then, on his final run Rene Rinnekangas came out with a mesmerizing 94.00. But, wait Mark McMorris, going for his 16th X Games medal on his final run, brought a massive 96.00 run for the GOLD.

Snowboard Knuckle Huck

LIVE FEED & REPLAY: Snowboard Knuckle Huck

For the first time ever, X Games is trying out a new snowboarding event, Knuckle Huck! Athletes “huck” it off the the landing (also called a knuckle) of the Big air jump. This was all about style and STEEZY-NESS. The butter slides and hand drags were the pinnacle of the jam session and the “fridge”, Fridtjof Seather Tischendorf, did it best and earned the Golden Knuckles Medal. Be sure to check out the replay above to see all the action go down.

Women’s Snowboard Superpipe Final

Women’s Snowboard SuperPipe Final Replay

8 ladies hit the SuperPipe in this final under the lights for the best attempt on a 3 run session. A memorable night indeed, as the legendary Kelly Clark announces her retirement and takes one last run down the pipe. The top contenders struggled tonight, Arielle Gold was not able to put down a finished run and ended up last in 8th, Maddie Mastro got bit by some snow snakes a few times for a 6th. This gave room for Cai Xuetong to snag a Bronze with a 72.66, Queralt Castellet put down a solid run with a 80.00. But the untouchable, Chloe Kim, rose to the top without even touching her best run attempt. There was talks of her doing a FS double cork 1080 for the first time in women’s snowboard SuperPipe history, or doing her back to back 1080s again. Her winning run of a 84.00 looked like a warm up run as it was too easy. We hope to see that double cork 10 soon. Maybe at the Burton U.S. Open!? (Fingers crossed).

The perfect event to wrap up the X Games here in Aspen. It never fails to bring the stoke. Everybody was absolutely sending it. But the bar has been raised so high, you need to do something extraordinary to get in the podium. However, Danny Davis brings his amazing style into his first run and does a unique run that was extremely fun to watch earning him a 83.66 for a Bronze. 17 year old Yuto Totsuka came out swinging on his first run of his first x games appearance with a 90.00 for Silver. Scotty James, on his second run, straps up his trademark boxing gloves and pulls a “mind-melting run” for a 94.00 to grab his second Gold medal in SuperPipe.
